There’s a tendency among business owners and entrepreneurs to want to manage every detail of their business themselves. Maybe it’s because owners think they can do it better than anyone else. Or perhaps they believe that by the time they explain it to someone, they might as well have done it themselves. Or, once upon a time, the owner trusted a business associate with an important task — and it didn’t get done.
Whatever the reason for being a business do-it-yourselfer — and however valid it seems — it is also true that trying to manage everything on one’s own limits growth, and might lead to burnout.
A common focus for business coaching is to help clients overcome “do-it-yourself-itis.” If you know someone who suffers with this debilitating condition, refer them to HUM for a complimentary, confidential evaluation. For faster service, text: 949.338.1259.
